Adding a bathroom...The first ever
Upon purchase of the property, it'd never had a bathroom installed. To bring the property up to date and into the 21st century it was essential to have a modern bathroom install.
One of the main issues we faced when planning the bathroom was that the fact that the property was lower than the outside sewerage system. This meant we had to install a macerator pump. The product we opted for was a Uniflo 4 which has the ability to pump waste 5 meters high and 60 meters in length. We chose Uniflo over other products as they are a well known competitor in the market, have all spare parts for sale, and have fantastic customer service. I visited their Wakefield showroom to discuss my options, the staff showed me how to maintain with their de-scaler crystals and open the unit in case of any issues.
We also had to install a boiler along with all the pipework for the sinks and shower. We used PEX push fit connections along with 22mm piping. All the PEX fixing and pipework was readily available at Leroy Merlin in Loule. We purchased extra connection and joints so we didnt have anything missing and returned the excess items a couple of days later.
Because showers are expensive in Portugal, we ended up buying one from the UK along with some 22mm PEX to 15mm Copper adapters
