Finding the property & initial thoughts

May 2019 , following an extensive search for a property all across the algarve which had been going on for 18 months , a property in Benfarras near boliqueime came on the Market which caught our eye. 

The property was listed on Idealista (Portugals biggest property sale website) , its bit like rightmove in the UK. The house was cheap so we acted fast to view it with Remax (the estate agent) 

It was clear having viewed it that the work was extensive. our initial thoughts were that the house needed 2 new roofs, a bathroom and all the pluming to the drains being installed. new windows and doors, plastering, tiling and a new kitchen. This project and works would have been a daunting task for most expats to complete whilst living abroad, but we decided to proceed with an offer. Two reasons we proceeded with an offer , first the location of the house was excellent , 5 mins from Vilamoura and the beach , next to the N125 , 15 mins from Faro Airport. And the second was the price , which was well below market value. 

The offer was quickly accepted.
